Can A Menstruating Woman Recite Salawat And Look At The Blessed Hairs?

QA-ID-0085

QUESTION

Can a woman on haiz recite and touch Durood e Tanjina?

Can a woman in haiz enter the room where there is baal mubarak and do ziyarat?

ANSWER

A menstruating woman is not allowed to touch the Qur’ān or its verses and cannot recite Qur’ānic verses with the intention of Qur’ānic recitation. However, she can recite and touch any form of salawāt, durūd, dhikr, tasbīh, and similar acts of remembrance. She is also permitted to recite certain verses of the Qur’ān that carry the meaning of dhikr or du’ā without the intention of Qur’ānic recitation, such as Sūrah al-Fātihah, Āyah al-Kursī etc.

A menstruating woman can enter the room where the blessed hairs of RasūlAllāh ﷺ are kept and look at them, provided it is not in the Masjid, as a menstruating woman is not permitted to enter the Masjid.
