  • Fiqh specialisation
  • Courses on specialised topics, including Islamic business law
  • Short courses on various Islamic topics

Rather than relying on fundraising at the moment, the institute seeks to support its growth through the provision of educational services.

Why This Matters

Urdu, in-person study & disciplined learning

Urdu

Importance of Urdu in Islamic Scholarship

Urdu plays an important role in the scholarly tradition of the Indian subcontinent, where many distinguished scholars have produced highly valuable works. A significant number of resources used in traditional seminaries are available in Urdu.

By learning to read Urdu, students gain access to a rich body of scholarship often unavailable in English. As they progress, students will increasingly transition to Arabic texts while continuing to benefit from Urdu works.

Ṣuḥbah

The Importance of In-Person Study

This programme is strictly face-to-face; online study is not currently offered. Traditional Islamic learning places great emphasis on ṣuḥbah and tarbiyah — companionship with teachers and personal cultivation under guidance.

Direct interaction with teachers, structured supervision and immersion in a learning environment provide benefits that cannot easily be replicated through remote study.

Discipline

Expectations & Conduct

Students are expected to demonstrate seriousness in study, respect for teachers and fellow students, and consistent effort and dedication.

Persistent negligence, misbehaviour or lack of commitment will not be tolerated. Students who fall significantly behind due to their own lack of effort may be removed in order to preserve the integrity of the class.

Future Study

Beyond the Foundation Year

Students who complete the foundation programme will be well prepared to pursue advanced Islamic studies. Fawatih Institute intends, in the future, to offer a full ʿĀlimiyyah programme, allowing students to continue within a structured, traditional framework.

It is hoped that this first cohort will form the beginning of a wider educational effort that serves students with depth, clarity and continuity.

Instructor

Muḥammad Kalim Miṣbāḥī

Founder of Fawatih Institute. After more than a decade of formal study, he specialised in Ḥanafī fiqh, undertaking further training in fatwā writing and research during his time studying in India.

For several years he has responded to everyday religious enquiries and engaged in research on contemporary fiqh issues, particularly in finance, wealth management and modern financial practices.

Fawatih began as an educational initiative providing written content and research material shared freely for the benefit of the public.
