Our Name

Fawatih (فواتح) means beginnings; openings; commencements. The name is inspired by the famous Prophetic narration wherein the Prophet ﷺ said: "Islam began as something strange, and it will revert to being strange just as it began. So, glad tidings for the strangers" [Muslim].

بَدَأَ الْإِسْلَامُ غَرِيبًا وَسَيَعُودُ كَمَا بَدَأَ فَطُوبَى للغرباء

The name "Fawatih" is also inspired by the renowned Usul al-Fiqh commentary Fawatih al-Rahmut, written by the distinguished Indian scholar, 'Allamah Abdul 'Ali al-Lakhnawi. This work is a commentary on the well-known Usul al-Fiqh text Musallam al-Thubut.
