Doing Sajdah of Tilawah After ‘Asr

QA-ID-0045

QUESTION

Is it permissible to perform sajdah tilwat after Asar salah?

ANSWER

Performing sajdah of tilāwah (recitation) after ‘asr salāh is permissible until 20 minutes before sunset (makrūh time). However, during the makrūh time, it is severely disliked to perform sajdah of tilāwah, except if the person recited the verse of tilāwah during that specific time. In such a case, it is permissible to do sajdah of tilāwah even during the makrūh time, although it is preferable to wait and perform it after the passing of the makrūh time.
