QUESTION
When giving Fatiha, is it necessary to prepare food for it? Does it have to be something sweet? Is it OK to give Fatiha on its own?

It is not necessary to prepare food for Fātiha. Fātiha simply refers to reciting the Qur’ān and sending the reward to the deceased.
Food is usually prepared for guests, and providing food to others is itself rewarding as emphasised in many narrations. The reward for this is also sent to the deceased.
