Women Wearing Shoes In Salah

QA-ID-0081

QUESTION

Women don’t bend their toes in Salaah, would they be able to wear shoes that are not soft and don’t bend easily?

ANSWER

Since women are not required to press the toes and bend them firmly during sajdah in salāh like men, the requirement for shoes to allow bending and pressing of the toes does not apply to them. This means that they can wear any type of shoes and their salāh will be valid as long as the shoes are free from impurities.

However, shoes worn for walking outside should be removed before praying salāh as such shoes are not considered ideal for salāh unless there is a reason to keep them on.
