Gathering in the Masjid on the 15th night of Sha'ban

How can gathering in the masjid to worship Allah on a particular day be bidʿah (innovation)? When people organise other Islamic speaking events in the masjid on specific days, they do not consider that to be an innovation.

The 15th night of Shaʿbān has a basis in the Sunnah. It is not an invented practice, nor is its virtue a fabrication. Numerous reports establish its significance and merit, even if scholars have differed on the strength of individual narrations.

If people choose to gather in the masjid on that night to engage in voluntary acts of worship, there is no valid reason for this to be treated as problematic.

How often do people truly find the opportunity and motivation to engage in voluntary acts of worship? Gathering in the masjid on a night of recognised virtue allows Muslims to support and encourage one another in performing extra acts of worship, acts that many would otherwise struggle to carry out on their own.
